Kolkata, the cultural capital of India, is home to astounding palaces, splendid buildings, and numerous museums. The city of palaces is widely renowned for its tram services (since 1902), Kolkata book fair (Asia’s biggest fair), National Library, Salt Lake Stadium (2nd largest football stadium in the world), and palaces like Victoria Memorial, Fort William, Belur Math, Writers Building, etc. There are numerous art galleries, museums, historic structures, motion pictures, and musical productions in Kolkata. The most extravagant religious holiday in the city is Durga Puja, when people dress in vermillion hues and the streets transform into beautiful kaleidoscopes.

The richness of Kolkata in art and literature is visible in the face of the Nobel Prize laureate (Literature), Rabindranath Tagore, some excellent novelists such as Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, Manik Bandopadhyay, and internationally acclaimed traditional dancers like Shri Uday Shankar. The cuisine wonders like Roshogulla and Sondesh truly make Kolkata the city of joy. After all, what’s better than having authentic sweet delicacies.
